questions and answers about traveling to africa

what might I expect of a typical day on safari

Mmmm…  We’re not certain there is a typical day on safari.  That’s what keeps it fresh, exciting and worth getting out of bed at the crack of dawn.  You never know what you might see or encounter as you start your day.

But to give you a general overview, you most likely will be woken up with your beverage of choice and perhaps a biscuit or two brought to your tent.  You will then begin your early morning game drive during which you may stop for a picnic breakfast.  By late morning you will have found your way back to camp where you can relax a bit before tucking into an enjoyable lunch.  After lunch, you have a few hours to do pretty much what you please.  Read, take a dip in the pool, nap… you get the idea.  When it has cooled down again, you may opt for another game drive during which you will stop for your “sundowner” to enjoy the sinking of the glorious sun behind the horizon.  Then it’s back to camp where you may freshen up in anticipation of an evening sitting around the campfire swapping wonderful stories and enjoying a delicious dinner.

Remember, this is just one option to give you a feel for the rhythm of a day.  Instead you may chose to stay out all day taking with you a picnic lunch, go for a guided bush walk, horseback ride , visit a local village or enjoy the many other options available at the different camps.

Your days may be as action packed or laid back as you wish.  If you want to just kick back and opt out of an activity that’s fine, just let your guide or host know.  It’s your holiday – you get to pace your days as you wish.
