Would you like to know a bit more about basic tracking techniques and wilderness survival strategies?  Then the Bush Skills Academy at Phinda Reserve in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa may be right up your alley.  This 4 day, 3 night adventure, led on foot by a seasoned ranger, will teach you this as well as provide fascinating background on Phinda’s plants and animals.

Are you passionate about nature and would like a more in-depth experience and understanding of it?  Then you might want to consider a training course or two in the Kruger National Park area.  You may opt for specialized training such as a 3 day wildlife photography class or a week long bird identification class or perhaps a 3-7day animal tracking class.  For those of you that are real hard core, there is also a 28-day comprehensive field guide training where you will learn about the bush and its inhabitants as well as such practical things as how to set up camp, basic rifle handling, radio procedures and basic 4X4 driving.  Who knows what opportunities such training can offer!

In Namibia, you can join a Save the Rhino Trust team on an eight day walk (complete with camel train) into the heart of the Namib Desert as the trackers research and monitor the rare desert adapted black rhino.  Not only will this be an adventure you will tell your grandchildren but it will give you access to some of the most remote and usually inaccessible regions of the Palmwag Concession.

If your time is limited but you would still like to spend time amongst rhinos, you can participate in a rhino darting partnership program in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.  Play an important role in conservation by performing assigned tasks once a veterinarian safely anaesthetizes the rhino.
