Although strictly speaking a part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, this is the area of the short grass plains whose short, tender, young grass is so highly favored in January through March after the short rains of November and December.  The wildebeest normally drop their calves here during a three week period in February.  Imagine the sight of thousands of baby wildebeests being born each day.

During the dry season, normally June through October, not much game remains here.
