Have you ever wondered how to seamlessly meld the African bush with
the elegant simplicity of fine Italian culture and cuisine? Well, we
hadn’t either but just spend a few days at Campi Ya Kanzi and you will
see how well it can be done. Your hosts, Luca Belpietro and Antonella
Bonomi are Italian born but have a deep, passionate involvement with
Africa. Their goal is to welcome you as family rather than guests.
Campi Ya Kanzi, a community project with the local Maasai on their 400
square mile Group Ranch, enjoys a diverse ecology, including grasslands,
riverine forests and cool mountain forests. Each of the five luxury
tented cottages with en-suite baths and the two suites have spectacular
views of either Mt. Kilimanjaro or the Chyulu Hills. You will enjoy
the finest Italian linen and the delicious culinary creations of a chef
that is trained in the fine art of Italian cooking. All pasta, bread,
and ice cream are home made.
The area is home to both big and plains game as well as such rare species
as wild dog, lesser kudu and black rhino. Additionally, there are more
than 400 species of birds on the ranch. Activities include game drives,
cultural visits to Maasai villages, forest walks, guided game walks and
for an additional fee, fly camping and National Park excursions (Amboseli
and Tsavo).
