Borana has eight private and spacious guest cottages
decorated in unaffected but luxurious up-country style. All rooms
have an open fireplace, veranda and en suite bathroom with bath and
shower. |

A stay at Borana is a unique opportunity for total
immersion in the life and goings on of a working ranch where environmental
and ecological considerations coincide with the needs of the neighboring
community. This 35,000-acre ranch situated on the edge of the Samargua
Valley provides stunning views of Mt. Kenya as well as Kenya's northern
frontier. Learn first hand about the challenges of ranching in this harsh
environment such as elephants in the vegetable patch, lions in the cattle
boma, flood, draught and famine.
You can keep as busy or not as you like with game drives, bush walks,
horseback riding and mountain bike riding. If you are interested in horse
breeding, Borana breeds its own polo and children's ponies. A wide diversity
of wildlife including lion, elephant, Jackson's hartebeest, buffalo,
reticulated giraffe, Patas monkeys and great herds of antelope roam the
plains while the cool forest shelters bush buck, colobus monkeys and
leopard. For those wanting a more relaxing time you can always climb
into a hide or tree house and wait for the wildlife to come to you.
