Located in the remote and unspoiled wilds of Meru National Park, it
is here where you can get a sense of a simpler time. Elsa's Kopje, named
after Elsa, the lioness of "Born Free" fame feels like a private
hide-away.
Meru's vastness includes arid, open plains dotted with Doum Palms and
Baobab trees as well as lush vegetation along 13 rivers. The diversity
of game mirrors that of the landscape. Regular sightings include Beisa
oryx, gerenuk, elephant, Grevy's zebra, Reticulated giraffe, Lesser kudu,
Grant's gazelle, leopard, lion, cheetah, rhino and the rare, elusive
Greater kudu. Meru is famous for its bird life, including riverine and
forest species as well as the arid dry country species.
