Skeleton Coast Camp is located in the heart
of a 660,000 acre private concession area of Skeleton Coast Park. This is one of the most
inhospitable but majestically beautiful places on the planet. You
will be met with roaring sand dunes, windswept plains, towering canyons,
salt pans, seal colonies and remnants of old ship wrecks. Skeleton
Coast Camp’s terrain is rugged and harsh and is best suited for those
who seek a true wilderness experience.
Guests stay in six meru-style tents with en-suite
baths. Meals
are often served in the open-air dining room under an ancient Leadwood
tree.
Full and half day excursions include nature
drives or walks, visits to Rocky Point, Cape Fur seal colonies, Himba
villages, the clay castles of the Hoarusib River or shipwreck sites. Because
of the uniqueness and vastness of this area, most activities are done
in 4x4 vehicles that are closed to the elements. All vehicles have
pop-top roofs and sliding windows to enjoy the fine weather.
