If you truly want to relax and unwind on one of the wildest coastlines
anywhere in the world, then Rocktail Bay Lodge may be your idea of heaven.
Located within one of South Africa’s World Heritage Sites, Rocktail offers
perhaps the most private beach experience in South Africa with nearly
25 miles of unspoiled, pristine coastline. Here you have the rare privilege
of walking for hours without meeting another soul.
Accommodation is in 11 wooden tree-house chalets. Each en suite room
has its own private balcony and an additional outdoor shower in the forest.
A boardwalk winds from the lodge, through the dune forest and down to
the beach.
The majority of activities are marine-based. The lodge has a fully
accredited dive center and diving operation that is unrivalled in South
Africa for its access to remote, exclusive reefs. At low tide a boat
will take you to scuba dive and snorkel on the pristine coral reefs that
have just recently been found and explored and whose access is restricted.
Saltwater fly-fishing, horse back riding, bird hides
and drives to the nearby hippo pools are also available. During the
summer months, Rocktail Bay Lodge is integrally involved in ongoing turtle
research.
